Why practice yoga naked?
The short & simple answer is that it makes it a lot harder to hide anything...but there are many ways that practicing naked can be transformative!
Many of us have a host of negative feelings about our bodies and our sexual nature. Letting our guard down and bringing everything into the light with guidance and intention can lead to more acceptance and compassion for ourselves, as well as liberation from fear and shame. As in all forms of yoga, we practice observing and integrating all parts of ourselves without attachment to our judgements, stories, and opinions.
While practicing naked yoga, strong feelings and energies may arise in the mind and body, but we do not have to let them overtake us. With expanded awareness, we are able to transcend the desires, thoughts and traumas of the lower egos and transform sexual energy into strength.
The experience may be uncomfortable at first, but it is totally safe, and by the end of the session you will most likely feel relief, joy and freedom. It’s always empowering to try something new and a little scary!
