Mindfulness meditation is a practice that teaches you how to be fully in the present moment, and accept your thoughts, feelings and sensations without judgement. Mindfulness practice involves breathing techniques and awareness of the body and mind.
Meditation is a state of mind, but it is beyond the thinking mind. Regular practice of meditation will lead to more calmness, peace and tranquility.
The state of meditation occurs spontaneously when practicing dharana or concentration. There are many meditation techniques that lead to the same goal - eternal bliss or a state of the higher consciousness. For beginners it is highly recommended to practice with a guidance of a teacher to help establish a solid regular practice.
